Hour of Code
Coding is shaping our future. The Hour of Code is an initiative that happens through code.org, a website that helps people of all ages learn how to code and program computers, laptops, and other things that are technology based. The Hour of Code is something that the 2nd-6th graders at our school did this week. Our technology teacher, Mr. Paul helped us and led this program. We coded our own games with code bars. There were many different games, some easy and some hard. When we coded the games on code.org we ran into many problems that we had to solve in order to go to the next level of coding. This problem solving is one reason why coding is important and why we started learning to code in tech class. We not only did games, but also many other subjects too. “Coding is deeply creative work.” Technology, programming, and coding are starting to shape our future. As Malala Yousafzai said, “Every girl deserves to take part in creating the technology that will change our world, and change who runs it.” Everybody likes coding thanks to Mr. Paul. This was a great activity that helped our school and taught the elementary students how to code and program a computer.
